Library

In addition to the collection of more than 25,000 films, the Lichtspiel has two special libraries, which can be visited on site by appointment only. The catalogue can be consulted online in advance through the Lichtspiel database.

The Romagosa Library is an extensive collection of books on films, film history and film industry personalities. The books in this library are a donation of antique dealer Jaime Romagosa, who died in 2020. Jaime Romagosa was a passionate bookseller and filmmaker who also wrote film reviews for the newspaper “Der Bund” for many years.

The second library is the Lichtspiel Special Library. It includes expert literature on film technology and film projection, archiving and conservation, amateur cinema as well as an extensive collection of magazines, film catalogues and programmes from film festivals and independant cinemas. The library also contains many books from the early years of the 20th century and the from beginning of cinema history.
