Distribution of 35mm and 16mm films
Lichtspiel cinemathèque Berne is – above all – a film archive conserving films and not a film distribution.
Yet, among the 25’000 films in our archives there are a certain number of long feature films on 16mm and on 35mm, some of them in their original language version, some are synchronized, very often there are subtitled versions. Most of the films have been screened very often, the films copies are in very different condition.
We do loan copies to cinemas, to festivals and to institutions. Lichtspiel does not hold the screening rights for these films, the rights have to be cleared with the rights owners by the renters. .
